Seated Hip Opener-
  •   Sit with the souls of your feet together as close to your body as feels ok.
  • If it feels uncomfortable sit on a block or a cushion to let your knees drop.
  • Sit up tall.
  • Let your knees drop down.
  • Stage One: bring your hands behind your body and lean forward, this will help to keep your back straight.
  • Inhale- sit up tall, exhale- lean forward.
  • If this feels comfortable, try stage two.
  • Stage Two: Bring your hands in front of you and lean forward into the pose.
  • Keep your chest reaching forward so you do not round your back.
  • Take hold of your ankles or walk your hands out in front of you.
  • Take 5 deep slow breaths in and out of the nose.
  • Try to sink forward into each exhale.

Benefits:

  • This is a great pose for opening up the hips.
  • Hips are where the body stores emotion so a lovely visualisation with this pose is to let go of both physical and mental blocks each time you exhale.
  • It is a calming pose, great at the end of the day.
